Photographer: Filippo Maffei
Nationality: Italian
Photography helps me understand what I see through the lens.
My motivation is simple: immortalize something worth remembering.
In summer 2012 I undertook a photographic project with some friends documenting life around surfing in our hometown.
Sharing golden moments of instantaneous joy, capturing fragments of our daily trips along that coastline we call “home” was the aim of the project.
We started to document every swell, from southern Tuscany to northern Liguria and we shot in every condition, from perfect glassy waves to windy close outs, sunny or rainy.
Devotion is driving us through this project, bringing me and my friends together to share this unique experience of the beauties within our region.
The following shots are a small selection from a collection that is a work in progress.
Photo #1
Beach break in Viareggio, Tuscany, right in front of my house. I shot this with a Nikonos V and Velvia 100 color slides film.
Photo #2
Ale Ponzanelli waiting for the set to come on a rainy day.
